چکیده

Phase change materials (PCM) have been widely investigated for heat storage and transfer applications. Numerous numerical simulation approaches proposed modelling their behaviour predicting performance in thermal However, do not consider the kinetics of phase transition processes, compromising accuracy predictions. The is a kinetically driven process which both reaction rate progress depend on heating schedule. This work evaluates parametrises influence melting crystallisation well-known PCM, PEG1500, compares potential discrepancies with common parametrisation alternatives. kinetic dependence was experimentally evaluated through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). parameters required processes were determined by model-free model-fitting procedures following ICTAC (International Confederation Thermal Analysis Calorimetry) recommendations. Then, parametrised model compared three conventional models: linear without hysteresis, non-linear hysteresis. statistical comparison between models demonstrates higher approach to correctly represent partial enthalpy distribution latent during alternative rates, obtaining coefficient determination (R2) 0.80. On other hand, kinetic-independent limited range from 0.40 0.61. results highlight high provide criteria guidelines efficient evaluations.

Thermal Transport in Phase Change Memory Materials

Phase change memory uses brief pulses of electrical current to induce phase transitions in chalcogenide material regions with dimensions near or even far below 50 nm. The strongly differing electrical conductivities of the crystalline and amorphous phases allow data storage at densities in excess of terabits per square inch. Nanoscale conduction heat transfer governs the figures of merit in the...

Thermal Management Using “ Dry ” Phase Change Materials

The thermal response characteristic of a hybrid cooler that is charged with a “dry” solid-solid phase change compound is evaluated. A mathematical model that simulates the performance of a cooler/heat storage unit is formulated. A prototype heat sink that incorporates heat storage using a “dry” PCM is tested, and used to benchmark the simulation model. Different heating and cooling strategies a...

An Algorithm based on Predicting the Interface in Phase Change Materials

Phase change materials are substances that absorb and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing. This characteristic makes phase change material (PCM)  a favourite choice to integrate it in buildings. Stephan problem including melting and solidification in PMC materials is an practical problem in many engineering processes. The position of the moving boundary, its veloci...
